A smooth chain means more riding joy

Every click, snap or grinding sound from your chain signals it needs attention. OC1 Chain Lube Dry keeps your bike's drivetrain running quiet, smooth and efficient — especially in dry, dusty conditions that challenge most chain lubricants.

This high-quality synthetic bicycle chain lubricant was designed for cyclists who ride in environments where mud isn't a problem, but dust and sand can quickly destroy the drivetrain. The formula penetrates all chain gaps, lubricating every roller while displacing moisture.

Key properties of Chain Lube Dry

What sets this bicycle chain lubricant apart from other products? It's the combination of professional performance with ease of use that you'll appreciate from the very first application.

  • 80% friction reduction – synthetic formula minimises drivetrain resistance, meaning easier riding and better efficiency.
  • Corrosion protection – the lubricant creates a durable protective layer that repels moisture and prevents rust formation.
  • High lubricating properties – advanced formula provides excellent lubrication even under heavy load.
  • Doesn't attract dirt – unlike wet lubricants, the Dry formula doesn't create a sticky surface.
  • Displaces moisture – if the chain is slightly damp after washing, the lubricant effectively pushes water from critical areas.

Who should use this lubricant?

Chain Lube Dry was created for anyone who rides regularly and wants their bike to perform flawlessly. MTB riders who tackle dry, dusty trails will find this lubricant ideal — it doesn't collect sand and dust, ensuring smooth drivetrain operation. Road cyclists will appreciate smooth gear shifting and quiet chain operation, which is essential for comfort on long distances. Cyclocross enthusiasts can rely on dependable performance during dry training sessions and races — the product works across a wide temperature range.

Gravel riders who travel on mixed surfaces with predominantly dry conditions and occasional dust receive optimal drivetrain protection. Daily commuters who use their bike for work commutes in dry climates will appreciate long-lasting protection and no need for frequent chain cleaning — saving time and adding convenience to everyday use.

When to use Chain Lube Dry?

Choosing the right lubricant for riding conditions is key to long drivetrain life. This product was specifically designed for particular situations where it performs best.

  • Dry, dusty trails – this is the natural environment for this lubricant, which doesn't collect dust and sand.
  • Asphalt riding – ideal conditions for Dry-type lubricant: clean surface, no mud, predictable weather.
  • Training in dry climates – if you live in a region with low rainfall, this lubricant will be your primary choice.
  • After every cleaning – after washing the bike and drying the chain, application restores optimal protection.

Why does regular lubrication matter?

A well-lubricated chain means more than just riding comfort and quiet operation — it delivers real savings and better performance. Proper maintenance reduces cassette and derailleur wear by up to 70%, and the chain itself lasts significantly longer. In practice, this means savings of several hundred zlotys per year.

Additionally, a properly lubricated drivetrain means better power transfer to the wheel. Studies show that the difference between a dry and optimally lubricated chain can reach 5-7 watts of power. For road cyclists every percent of efficiency counts, and for MTB enthusiasts it means easier climbing.

1. Clean the chain

Before applying fresh lube, remove old contamination. Use a chain cleaner (preferably OC1 Chain Cleaner) and a brush. Rinse with water and leave to dry completely.

2. Shake the bottle

Shake the bottle well before use to ensure ingredients are evenly mixed.

3. Apply lube to the chain

Open the dropper system and apply one drop of lube to each chain link — not on the side plates, but directly on the rollers. Simultaneously rotate the pedals backward to evenly cover the entire chain.

4. Cycle through the gears

Shift through all gears several times. This will spread the lube across all chain surfaces and reach the roller pins.

5. Remove excess

After 2-3 minutes, wipe the chain with a clean rag. This removes excess lube from outer surfaces, preventing dust attraction.

6. Let the lube penetrate

Wait approximately 5-10 minutes before riding. The lube needs time to fully penetrate all chain spaces.

Important

  • Storage temperature: 5-25°C — don't leave the product in frost or a hot car

  • Don't overdo the amount: more isn't better, excess lube will only attract dirt

  • Regularity: re-lube the chain every 100-150 km or when it becomes dry and noisy

  • Safety: keep away from children, avoid contact with eyes

Tip

The best time to lube is evening after riding, not morning before heading out. This gives the lube all night to penetrate, and you don't have to rush.

What's the difference between Chain Lube Dry, Wet and Wax?

Chain Lube Dry is ideal for dry, dusty conditions — it doesn't attract dirt and works great in summer. Wet was created for wet, muddy conditions — it's resistant to water washout. Wax is a wax-based lube that reduces wear by over 80% and is best for demanding users seeking maximum performance.

How often should I lube my chain?

In dry conditions, lube the chain every 100-150 km of riding or when it starts running loud. After riding in rain or washing your bike, always apply fresh chain lube.

Can I use this lube on a motorcycle chain?

Chain Lube Dry was designed specifically for bicycles. For motorcycles, we recommend dedicated OC1 products from the motorcycle line.

Do I need to remove old lube before applying new?

Yes, periodic thorough chain cleaning is crucial. Applying new lube over old contaminated lube creates abrasive paste. Perform thorough cleaning every 3-4 lube applications.

How many applications does one 140 ml bottle provide?

A 140 ml bottle provides approximately 40 full applications. With regular maintenance every 100-150 km, this is enough for an entire season of intensive riding.

Can I use Chain Lube Dry in winter?

You can, but only in dry winter conditions. If you ride on salted roads or in wet/snowy conditions, Chain Lube Wet is a better choice.

What if I applied too much lube?

Simply wipe the chain with a clean rag, removing excess from outer surfaces. The lube inside the chain will stay in place.

Does Chain Lube Dry protect against rust?

Yes, the lube creates a protective layer that displaces moisture and protects the chain from corrosion.

How long does the lube remain effective on the chain?

In dry conditions, one application should last 100-150 km. Actual durability depends on conditions — in very dusty terrain it may be shorter.

Can I use this lube on other bike parts?

Chain Lube Dry was designed specifically for chains. You can also use it on derailleur and brake cables, but don't apply it on braking surfaces.
