Yamaha's double podium at the Motocross World Championship - OC1 behind the scenes of success

Motocross racing is one of the most demanding sports in the world. Riders hurl themselves onto muddy tracks, clear jumps and fight for every second in extreme conditions. For a motorcycle to hold up at all - it needs to be perfectly prepared. That is precisely where OC1 comes in.

In March 2026, during the third round of the Motocross World Championship (MXGP) in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, one of the world's finest teams - Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Team - stood on the podium twice. And while the cameras focused on the riders, behind their success lay the daily, meticulous care of the equipment - with OC1 products.

What is MXGP and why does it matter?

MXGP is the Motocross World Championship - a prestigious race series in which the world's best riders compete on off-road tracks throughout the entire season. Think of it as the equivalent of Formula 1, only instead of tarmac there is mud, sand and uneven terrain, and motorcycles must withstand conditions in which most vehicles would simply refuse to cooperate. More about the series is in MXGP: the world championship where every detail counts.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Team is one of the strongest outfits in the competition - with the budget, engineering resources and riders to match.

What happened in Switzerland?

Conditions in Frauenfeld were tough even by MXGP standards - cold, muddy and slippery. Despite that, both Yamaha riders made it onto the podium.

Maxime Renaux - one of the leading riders of the season, a Frenchman racing under number 959 - delivered an excellent opening race on Sunday, finishing in second place. In the overall Grand Prix classification, he ultimately took second place - his first podium of the 2026 season.

Tim Gajser - a Slovenian with five world championship titles to his name, number 243 - after a tougher first race, he came alive in the second: a strong start, a series of daring overtakes and second place in the race. In the GP classification - third place and his second consecutive podium in Yamaha colours.

In total: two riders, two podiums, one outstanding weekend.

Why does motorcycle maintenance matter at this level?

In competitive sport, every detail counts. Motocross is a discipline in which riders cover dozens of kilometres in extreme conditions - mud forces its way into every gap, water attacks the drivetrain, and dust and sand act like sandpaper on moving parts.

Professional MXGP teams look after their equipment with the same care a pilot takes when checking an aircraft before a flight. Regular cleaning, lubrication and protection of key systems is not an indulgence - it is an absolute necessity if the motorcycle is to reach the finish line rather than end the race in the workshop. What such a routine looks like is described in how to clean a motorcycle after riding in mud.

OC1 products are part of the daily maintenance routine for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Team's motorcycles. Not just for special occasions - regularly, at every round.

Partnership with one of the world's best MXGP teams is a natural step - and the best possible quality test. If a product performs where conditions are the most demanding in the world, it will perform anywhere. OC1 also works with another factory team, as described in OC1 becomes technical partner of Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP.

The MXGP season calendar

The MXGP season runs throughout the year and spans 19 rounds across all continents. The calendar includes, among others, the round at Riola Sardo in Sardinia. We are following the team's results and keeping our fingers crossed - and between rounds, we are making sure the equipment is ready for the next challenge.
