Chełmno, final round 2026 - a motocross season decided in the closing metres

The 2026 OC1 International Motocross Polish Championship closed on 16 August in Chełmno, and it closed in a way nobody could have scripted. A few hundred metres from the chequered flag in the final race, one of the championship leaders ran out of fuel. He dropped several positions, and with them the title he had been chasing all season. In another class, two riders finished on identical points, with the championship settled by the count of higher placings.

That is a fair picture of what motocross actually is. A season takes months to build and can be lost in a few hundred metres - on the track and away from it, in decisions taken long before the gate drops.

A season that crossed the border

This year's edition featured the first round in the history of the series to be held outside Poland. Riders from the Czech Republic, Finland and Ukraine appeared regularly on the gate, and the standard rose to the point where several classes remained open until the final round. The Polish championship has stopped being a purely domestic event. The world championship itself is described in MXGP: the world championship where every detail counts.

Behind that shift stands OC1, promoter and title sponsor of the series. The brand's involvement goes well beyond logos on trackside banners: it covers running the championship in cooperation with the Polish Motor Union, a calendar mapped out to 2028, and a steady lift in the standard of the events themselves, from technical facilities to media coverage.

Why a care chemistry brand runs a championship

The answer is simpler than it might appear. Motocross is the most demanding testing environment there is for motorcycle care products. Mud, dust, engine operating temperature and servicing carried out in the handful of minutes between races verify how well something works faster and more harshly than any laboratory trial.

The paddock is where half the season is decided. Washing done the moment a bike comes off the track, a two-stage drivetrain service, air filter maintenance, degreasing the brakes and protecting surfaces before the next session - none of it reaches the broadcast, yet it determines whether the machine reaches the finish at all.

The same routine works in a home garage after a weekend of riding. The scale is different, the wear mechanism identical. The home version is described in how to clean a motorcycle after riding in mud.

The season is not over yet

The final round in Chełmno closed the fight for titles in four classes. The remaining classes will crown their champions on 10 and 11 October 2026. Full results and reports from each round are available on the championship website.
